Privacy policy
The short version. We collect your family name and email so we can send your beta invite and the occasional update. We don’t sell it, we don’t share it for ads, and you can ask us to delete it any time.
Who we are
Famora is a family organizer. This policy covers famora.io, the waitlist, and the Famora app at app.famora.io, which is in beta. Questions go to hello@famora.io.
The Famora app
The app is where your family keeps its calendar, lists, chores, notes, meal plans and recipes. Here is what it stores and why.
- Your sign-in: your email address. Each time you sign in we email you a 6-digit code. There are no passwords.
- Your family: the family name, each person’s first name and color, and whether they are a grown-up or a kid. Kids don’t have their own accounts. A parent adds them.
- What your family adds: events, shopping lists and links, chores, home projects, notes, meal plans, recipes and recipe photos. Only people in your family can see it.
- Connected calendars: if you connect an Apple, Google or Outlook calendar, we save its private link and copy your upcoming events into Famora so your family can see them. We only read your calendar. We never change it. Disconnect it any time and the copied events are removed.
- Photos: recipe photos and optional profile pictures (including ones a parent adds for a kid) are shrunk and re-saved on your phone before they are uploaded, which removes hidden details like where the photo was taken. They are stored privately, and only your family can open them.
- Mora, the assistant: when you ask Mora something, we send your message, your last few messages with Mora, and a short summary of your family’s week (first names, event titles and times, and list names) to Anthropic, the company that runs the AI model, so it can write the answer. Under Anthropic’s business terms this is not used to train their models, and Anthropic deletes it within 30 days. Your chat history with Mora stays on your phone.
- Heads-ups: if you turn on notifications, we save your phone’s notification address and time zone. Each notification travels through Apple’s, Google’s or Mozilla’s notification service to reach your phone.
- Problem reports: if the app runs into an error, it sends us the error message, which screen it happened on, the app version and your browser type, linked to your account, so we can fix it. It does not include your family’s events, lists or notes.
- Feedback: if you send feedback from Settings, we keep your note with your account, family and app version so we can write back and fix things.
The app has no ads, no advertising pixels and no analytics trackers. We don’t sell or share your family’s information.
Who runs the app with us
- Supabase stores the app’s data, handles sign-in and keeps recipe photos. Its servers for Famora are in Oregon, USA.
- Vercel delivers the app to your phone.
- Anthropic runs the AI model behind Mora, as described above.
- Apple, Google and Mozilla deliver notifications to phones that turned them on.
- Our email provider sends your sign-in codes.
- Google Fonts supplies the app’s typefaces, so Google receives your IP address when the app loads them.
Deleting your family’s information
In the app, open Settings. Delete my account removes you and your sign-in. If you are the only grown-up in your family, it deletes the whole family too. The family organizer can also choose Delete our family, which erases everything, including photos, for every member. Deletion happens right away, and any backup copies are cleared within 30 days. You can also email hello@famora.io and we’ll do it for you.
What we collect
- What you give us: the family name and email address you type into the waitlist form, plus anything you write when you reply to our emails.
- What our servers log automatically: your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time. Every website does this, and we use it to keep the site secure and running.
- What our advertising and analytics tools collect: we use Google Analytics and Google Tag, the Meta Pixel and the TikTok Pixel. When you visit, these tools may use cookies and similar technologies to collect your IP address, device and browser details, the pages you view and how you found us. We use this to measure whether our ads work and how people use the site. We do not send your name or email from the waitlist form to these tools.
We do not ask for payment details on this site, and we do not collect anything from children.
Why we use it
- To send your invite to the iPhone beta.
- To send the occasional Famora update, and to ask what your family’s week looks like so we build the right things.
- To measure our advertising and understand how people use the site.
- To keep the site safe and working.
That is the whole list. We do not send your waitlist name or email to advertising or analytics tools.
Who helps us run this
A few companies process information for us, only so we can run the site and send our emails:
- Wordify hosts this website, which is where the waitlist is stored.
- SureContact is our email service. It sends our emails and keeps the list.
- Google Workspace is our inbox, so we can read your replies.
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces. When a page loads, your browser asks Google for the fonts, so Google receives your IP address.
- Google, Meta and TikTok provide the analytics and advertising tools described above (Google Analytics and Google Tag, the Meta Pixel and the TikTok Pixel).
We may also share information if the law requires it.
We don’t sell your information
We do not sell your personal information for money. Our advertising tools (the Meta and TikTok pixels and Google’s tools) collect information about your visit through cookies. California law may treat that as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out in the cookie settings, or by turning on Global Privacy Control in your browser. We honor that signal. Your waitlist name and email are never part of it.
Cookies and Do Not Track
This site uses cookies and similar technologies for three things. First, the ones the site needs to work, like keeping the form secure. Second, analytics cookies from Google Analytics, so we can see how people use the site. Third, advertising cookies from Meta, TikTok and Google, so we can measure our ads and show them to people who might like Famora. Analytics and advertising cookies only run if you accept them in the cookie banner, and you can change your mind any time from the cookie settings link at the bottom of the page. We honor Global Privacy Control signals.
How long we keep it
Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. If you ask, we remove your name and email from our website and email list, normally within 30 days.
Your choices
- Every email we send has a one-click unsubscribe link.
- You can ask us to show you what we have, correct it, or delete it. Email hello@famora.io from the address you signed up with. We’ll reply within 45 days, and usually much sooner.
- California residents have these rights under California law. We honor them for everyone who asks, and we won’t treat you differently for asking.
Children
The waitlist is for parents and guardians who are 18 or older. Our ads are aimed at adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 on this site. If you think a child has sent us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
In the app, parents and guardians can add their kids’ first names to the family so chores and rides show who they are for. Kids don’t sign in or have their own accounts, and we don’t collect information from children directly. A parent can remove a kid’s name, or delete the family, at any time.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limited access to the list. No system is perfect, so we can’t promise absolute security.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If the change is a big one, we’ll email you.
